Automatically use Gmail not Outlook Express

Hello all
I have just bought a new Samsung netbook and can't remember how to set it up so that when I click on a email link it automatically opens and uses my gmail account. At the moment it keeps selecting Outlook Express which I don't use.
Can anyone help me please?
