Ikea Hinges - Tombo Glass Units

Somebody save me please, before I lose one of my fingers or rage takes over and I lose the whole glass door! ;)

A while ago I bought two Besta Tombo Glass Doors for my wall-unit and I never had the strength to install them. Been trying the last couple of days but they will not click into place no matter how much I read the instructions!

I've attached a photo below to illustrate the hinge and attachment... anyone?

Have you mounted the plate on the side of the unit the correct way round?

Difficult to tell from a photo......are you saying this is a clip on hinge? OH thinks it looks like a screw on one.

It is the right way around. The book says it is a clip on hinge but it does not want to clip on!

Looks like a standard screw on cabinate hinge to me. 10 sec to fix, and another 10 to adjust.
A thankyou is payment enough .
  • it is a clip on hinge, if you slacken off the screw on the clip part of the hinge it will allow the hinge to clip into place if you see what i mean

make sure you have the cross shaped part fitted facing the right way (ie the arrow pointing towards the back of the unit)

then guide the bar on the door hinge into the cradle on the cross shaped part, and press the end of the hinge hard, so it pops over the end

however, it could be that the hinge is damaged and that is what is stopping it clipping on (weve had that happen a few times)

I've just fitted some ikea units - the hinges look identical - and the arrow on those pointed out of the cupboard

I fitted them the wrong way round at first!
