Alternative to tiling bathroom?

Hi,
I am in the middle of having a ensuite shower room being fitted. i have to get cracking with the tiling, i have had a quote and was shocked at how much it will cost, so i wondered if anyone knew of any modern waterproof alternatives to tiling. i.e. panelling and where i could get it. I live in the wigan area of lancashire.
I look forward to some ideas if you would be so kind.
Received £250.00 with one phone call to reclaim Mortgage Exit Administration£ fees AND £2995.00 bank charges from Lloyds TSb..All thanks to Martin Lewis. :T :money::T:beer:

get something like multipanel,a few companies make them and you can get them from b+q/wickes or a builders merchants/bathroom centre

I don't think 'multipanel' or other items are any cheaper.

    Perhaps a cheaper tile??

I used mermaid panels in my shower. Not cheap (slightly less than tiling) but easy to fit and to keep clean. Lots of designs available. Google mermaid shower panels for suppliers. I ordered mine online and had them delivered.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

I'd also recomend mermaid pannels. No grouting and fairly quick, simple to fit so you could either do it yourself or save money on labour. Either way I think it'll beat tiling. It wears well too and much easier to keep clean and mould free.

  • Sorry, don't know what it's called. My brother did his bathroom last year and used the panels that are used to line caravans, totally waterproof, incredibly cheap and very acceptable looking. Limited colours and patterns available but def worth investigating. Also very very easy to clean!
