It's been free since 1st July 2005.
It has been plastered all over several forums about this. And was heavily advertised on TV!
Though is only free if you get it via BT Privacy, either online at https://www.bt.com/btprivacy or calling the automated 24hr service on: 0800 916 5544It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
halliwellroger wrote:Just learnt probably a little late that you can get free answerphone and caller display services from BT just dial 150 and request it. It comes under bt privacy package. I hasten to add that they dont inform you that the service is now free I have been paying for it for years TUT TUT BT.
The 1571 free voicemail service has been available for quite a while.
The free caller display(BT Privacy) was promoted with every BT Bill on a leaflet enclosed with it.

On the subject of ' you can have it if you ask from BT'. With my last bill got BT update book. For all those users who upgrade from BT option to 2 or 3 you will receive half price line rental for 6 months. I am option 3. As an afterthought right at the end of the article - oh and er existing option 2 and 3 users can get the reduction if you phone up. So i phoned and I got half price line rental for next 6 months. If they do this then just apply to all accounts automaticly and generate lots of happy customers who will stay with BT. Sounds obvious does it not ?0

Surely BT Opt1,with 1899 peak, and Free E&W calls from Primus Saver would have been cheaper.Unless you are a very heavy user where Euphony inclusive 01/02 24/7 call package would be cheaper.PF.0 -
I always thought the biggest BT rip-off was when they allowed you to use your own phone rather than having to rent one of theirs. Of course, they didn't force the issue and many people paid for years afterwards, mostly pensiors who are likely to trust BT.
Cheers

Yes but they did tell people a number of times in their bill inserts they could use their own,but just like caller display some people did not read them.PF.0 -

Technically they were correct if she was putting all her calls through 18866 she was not entitled to it,she must put the odd call through BT to qualify.E&W 0845/0870 calls are a good bet as they are cheapest on BT.
Get her to claim it now all she need do is ring 0800 916 55 44 to claim and put the odd call through BT.
PS.Tell her that 1899 is now cheaper then 18866 and they now take D/D.

The 0800 916 5544 number is fully automated, so no need to speak to anyone. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc...
