PC Restarting now got blank screen!

Ok so my sons pc kept restarting everytime it got to the windows xp log in screen and then it just started up, the monitor, keyboard and mouse all jumped into life but the monitor screen stayed blank.

After a bit of googling it was suggested that the psu was at fault so I changed this for a new one. All was well - the pc started up and stayed started!!

I was in the middle of running a scan on it to make sure that my son hadn't picked up any nasties when the whole thing just froze, nothing I did made any difference, so I used the only option and switched it off by holding down the power key.

When it restarted it suggested that I started up in safe mode so I agreed but then it started with it's stupid restarting routine and now I've got lights everywhere I should have and you can hear the pc running but I'm back to a blank screen!!

HELP!

Possibly faulty RAM? I had a similar problem recently.

If your PC has more than one stick of RAM try taking each one out in turn and see if it works then.

will prove if its operating system related....if the Linux Cd works and you boot up then its' windows

in which case an XP cd will allow you to repair the installation

I've got the horrible feeling it's motherboard related , the PSU failing often take the Mobo out
