Can I Claim Charges?

Hi, last year I made an agreement with Barclaycard and HSBC to pay them £1.00 per month. I thought that was the end of it. I received a letter from Connaught Collections this week threatening to take my house and possessions if I didnt pay. They bought the debt from Barclaycard. I have since got advice re this from CCCS. My question is that although I told Barclaycard for 18 months that I was struggling to pay the monthly payments, they still added interest etc. Now that I no longer have a credit card with them, or a debt, can I still claim back the charges?
