... and they are legally obliged not to reveal details of reports over the phone.
Did they teach you whilst in their employment as a customer service representrative, which actual law prohibits members of staff of Morrisons giving out information from such reports by telelphone?
Or was there actually no legal requirement which prevented them, just company policy, so that non-legally trained staff didn't inadvertantly land the Company in deep legal do-dos?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
I've got some legal information on this and the facts are that it is not cut and dried that they are breaking the law (new Act, no case law) but it certainly looks like they may be.
The act in question is: " The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008". Unfair commercial practices are prohibited and the act defines in 3a "A commercial practice is unfair if -" "it materially distorts or is likely to materially distort the economic behaviour of the average consumer with regard to the product"
I would argue that putting a date on an offer is an attempt to induce the consumer to return later, rather than shopping some where else, otherwise why put a date on? Hence making offers and not honouring them is unfair trading and breaks this act. IMO.0
