Amazon did this with one item on an order I made in early Dec. If I hadn't checked later I would have been missing several Xmas presents - I'd used the Supersaver option where all items are held until the total order is ready for dispatch. All the items were definately available at the time of the order. My brother also had the same thing happen, in fact a book he was promised for early Jan (ordered and in stock mid-Dec) has just been put off for early Feb delivery. He cancelled the order and got the book in 24 hrs from a local bookshop.
I had some problems the previous Xmas, but I'm sure there was some sort of notification if orders couldn't be completed by the promised date.

Every order Ive made in the 6 month has been like that, I cancelled one that was supposed to take 2 weeks wait, which they then changed to about 2 months.

I am guessing that after Christmas they have still not restocked. Amazon are normally spot on when it comes to delivery with the only exceptions if (like I have done) ordered a book that is not due for publication for 6 months in a biiger order (it can delay everything).

However I ordered stuff on 27th Dec and have received about half of it so far in two different deliveries (I used the supersaver option ... not paying no P&P) - but they have kept me informed by email.

The huge Amazon warehouse is about 8 miles down the road from me at J13 of the M1, but when it comes to delivering they may as well be 500 miles away.

Could they not be done by Trading Standards for this? They are advertising a service that they cannot provide?

  • I have to say that I have always found Amazon to be an excellent company with good parcel tracking and good communications.

All companies have their hiccups, especially when you consider the huge amount of sales they must have done in the last 12 weeks or so. IvanOpinion is probably right about them still reeling after Christmas.

Send them an email, give them a chance to explain before condeming them completely.

I know how you feel - I posted a complaint about Amazon earlier this month.......

I placed an order on the 11th November and am STILL waiting for the last part of it.

Will never shop with them again.

Email them and ask what's going on. In my experience they do hand-out some discount codes when they have messed you about.
