Card Spending Protection query

Hi folks, I wonder if anyone can help with this please?

OH and I have decided to buy a Nintendo Wii (we don't 'need' one, but have been very careful with our money this last year, we prefer to save than spend, but have now decided we'd like to treat ourselves a little!).

Obviously it will be better to pay for it with a credit card, which I can easily do, but I've been stoozing on a 0% card which I'll be paying off next month, and then cancelling the card. I don't actually want or need a credit card so won't be getting another one.

I'm presuming that once the card is paid off and cancelled I will lose the spending protection for the console (and anything else I've bought on the card) should there be a problem with it in the future. Can anyone confirm this for me?

Thanks!
