No sound from car speakers

Radio display still looks normal, but not a sausage from any of the speakers. I've checked the connections at the back and they seem ok from what I can see. Really don't want to spend much money on either repair or replacement only to find that it might have been a simple fix - any advice?

mute button on the radio has been pressed/kicked by the kids.

Other the chance that both speaker have gone faulty or cable has broke at the same time is slight.
GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time. ;)

OR....if your head unit is like mine, if one of the speakers goes duff, the head unit cuts off the audio to save damaging the power amp...if your speakers are on an ISO connector, try putting it in at an angle, and see if one side or the other give you an output (do this whilst radio is on, obviously..) it may help narrow it down a bit, e.g. my rear driver's side is causing this with my head unit

  • Have you got 2 or 4 speakrs in the car? check the balance & see if yo have not moved it to the rear if you only have 2 front or vice versa.
