  • DH isn't keen on Dell, because he's heard too many stories about people having problems with them, and the ones I looked at on eBay looked better vhm. EBuyer seem to have some not bad deals atm. We're looking for a decent PC with at least 512mb RAM, DVD +/- RW and preferably a good sized hard drive for about £400 or less inc delivery if mail order.
    Hi
Ive got a dell machine and their excellent for the price, just take a look here, you can get one + lcd monitor for the price that you want, just remember if you don't want the 3yrs warranty, just select 12mths collect and return and it will save you at least £100+

I've bought two computers from Evesham in the last 8 years and can recommend them. There is a link on their website to E Bay where they sell their "clearance" lines
  • If you're buying something expensive from eBay then feedback is everything. Personally I'd look for a seller with a f/b rating of at least 100 and make sure he has at least a 98% f/b rating - and check and double check his f/b. Also make sure that the f/b he has is for selling the same stuff - if he's earned his f/b rating selling or buying cheap knick knacks and suddenly is selling very expensive stuff be very suspicious. If he wants payment by Western Union money transfer or he wants payment sent to a different country to the one the account is registered in then steer well clear - it could be a hijacked account.
Blessed are the geeks, for they shall inherit the Internet.
  • I bought my laptop off ebay but only after having a good look round, found a seller with good feedback & asked a couple of questions during the auction to see how his communication was. Had no problem at all with the transaction & got a real bargain

Oops, pressed thanks instead of reply by mistake, but I don't think you'll mind eh. :p

I bought my high spec computer from Hewlett Packard via their Ebay marketing last year & got a great deal. In my opinion their customer service is excellent & I'd certainly recommend them.

Incidentally the computer was delivered within 36 hours of the auction closing. :j
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Don't forget to check Morgan Computer prices to ensure you're not paying over the odds. You may even decide there's is a better option anyway!

My biggest recommendation is to pay for something like this with a credit card. That does not include a credit card paypal transaction.

So if you are buying from ebay, make sure the seller accepts credit card directly. This affords you alot more consumer protection than if you use another, less traceable, technique.

One thing I have previously noted on ebay is that a seemingly well priced machine can suddenly jump to not so impressive prices, in fact i find this with most computers i have watched. As others have said, better prices can often be had elsewhere if you look carefully, after all, many ebay sellers have simply bought in one place and sold directly on..... and you can bet they are making a profit!

except for the general public when it can mean whatever they want it to.

Hmmm, not sure that giving credit card details out to ebay sellers is a good idea!

I buy my kid's PC's and laptops from https://www.morgancomputers.co.uk, never had a problem with them.

For myself I make my own. I sell the old ones on EBay and people are very happy with them.
