Hi! My Dad is getting early retirement within the next month or so and he would like to know where is the best place to invest his £100,000 payout with safety. Thanks!

I was in a similar position last year with my retirement lump sum. The simple answer is its all down to him deciding what his exposure to 'risk' is. If he wants no risk then the choices are to put it in a gocvernment owned product like the NS&I, or 2 lots of 50k in different building societys, but the rates are now dire because of falling interest rates. If wants to 'Invest' his capital for growth, then he's looking at a minimum of 5yrs +. To go down the investment path he needs to sit down with an Independant Financial Advisor, not one from a bank/building society co's they are limited in where they advise to invest the money. I've come out of savings and gone with an IFA and now I have a large investment portfolio with a very big spread of investments. (But remember, there is risk with this, it all depends on the size of risk he is prepared to take) Good luckLiquidity is when you look at your investment portfolio and **** your pants0

Safety means different things as does risk.
Putting it all on deposit will see it suffer the risks of inflation and shortfall. Putting it all on the stockmarket will see it suffer invesment risk. There are options in between those but just wanted to highlight that no option is risk free.
Where is best will depend on his circumstances and what he wants to achieve with the money.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
