planting now?

I wouldn't pot them up at all, I would put them straight in the ground, its ok to heel them in if they have no where to go.Think I will need bigger than 3-4" pots, the canes are about 2ft tall:rotfl:
.
Also I bought some gooseberries, blackcurrants and redcurrants from Wilkinsons in cardboard boxes, should I treat them the same (they are already showing shoots and I'm keeping them in an unheated room at the mo with light)?
After you plant them you are supposed to cut them down to about 12" from memory anyway (raspberries). If they are summer fruiting ones, not sure about autumn fruiting.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
As I said ealier I always pot mine up now. Saying that I have left them in a cardboard box with some fresh compost and a little water as well and thats been fine. The point I am trying to make is because of our rotten weather last few years you can't go by the book anymore and have to adapt.0

OOps forgot Prune your gooseberries, redcurrants, and blackcurrants now just take about 1/3 off the top of each cane. This will stimulate new growth. As far as the raspberries are concerned if they are summer fruiting don,t prune as they fruit on last years growth. Autumn fruiting ones need to be pruned down to ground level to stimulate new canes to grow to fruit in the autumn.0
