Hey Moo, just a quick post to say how much I've enjoyed your diary in 2009 and looking forward to gasping with amazement at your achievements in 2010!

Good luck with everything and Happy New Year

  • You've inspired me, though with four step-kids, it's proving a bit of a challenge. The whole 'what toys and games have you grown out of?' has become 'what games do we find boring?', i.e. junior scrabble and junior pictionary are the only contenders. I'm now trying to explain that it's only because we've never played them properly in the 'grown up' way, and suggested that the playmobil stuff is a more likely candidate - the kids are 8-12!

My washing machine is seeing if it can out-do you, moo (in a rhyming sort of way!). Good luck with it.

Having one of those days where the world conspires against me.

Got back from the purveyor of diesel to a white transit van complete with loud hailer outside the house helpfuly announcing that our water was about to be turned off. Lazy oiks, would have been quicker to jump out and ring the doorbell. There are eight inhabited properties on the road spread over half a mile, mostly set back down 200m long farm tracks. Nobody could hear the announcement not that it mattered as by the time I'd reached the kitchen the water was already off.

Operation grimebuster was placed on hold. Bathroom is currently echoing its so barren.

DDs spent a happy afternoon colouring in shrinkies and making object d'art from Fimo before baking them in the oven. Got carried away with the domestic goddess bit and made Toad in the Hole and macaroni cheese to supplement the guinea fowl. Needn't have bothered, it tasted remarkably like chicken and both DDs were happy to eat it much to the cats disgust.

My two claim everything they have is boring and theres nothing to do right up until the point I attempt to dispose of it and then it becomes their favourite toy ever.

My Little Ponies have been observed congregating on the side of the bath despite their earlier banishment to the deepest darkest depths of the toy box.

Got lots of new games for x-mas including CrossWise the worlds most complicated educational game for the over 6s.

Can't keep my eyes open any longer.

    Happy New Year All!

May 2010 be the year of unexpected windfalls and lots and lots of shoes although apparently theres more to life than shoes. Somehow I don't believe it.

This, I believe is, a countrywide phenomenon

Interesting, the African wildlife has reappeared in our bathroom  unfortunately they dont have that pony ability to cling to the side of the bath by their one magnetic leg :(

Would love to play trashy games Lula but Granny purchased a selection of approved educational games for x-mas. Some, like Hit the Hat, are violent enough to be fun but involve pattern matching, shape selction and colour recognition. Needless to say this was abandoned rather quickly when Granny kept losing to DD2.

CrossWise has only 60 pieces and a scoring system that makes Cribbage look simple.

Am quite fancying Lets Dance, not entirely sure OH will be enticed to join in but its definately something the DDs will find fab.
