W98 Programs auto-starting?

Residence looks like it might be:

C:\Program Files\Sony Corporation\Picture Package\Picture Package Applications\Residence.exe

Do you have this Sony programme installed?

I did briefly look at the link...but frightened me a bit. On closer inspection it is fairly easy and very useful. Thanks.

I did install the sony software (Yes...I got a camcorder from the argos link ;D)!! However, I don't think my machine is powerful enough for movies, so will be uninstalling it soon.

You may find that even if disable some programs from starting they reset themseleves to start. I think real player is a particular culprit. Personally I won't have it on my computer.

InCD is a UDF CD applet. You dont need it unless you need to read a UDF CD or need to drag and drop files to a UDF CD.

I have managed to disable all of the system files that are not urgently required.

With Realplayer i find if you install the BBC version ( http://www.real.com/products/player/bbc.html ) it seems less prone to start-up etc. It doesn't however seem if this is still available.

With Startup programs you might have more luck with a startup control program than MSConfig. I use starter from here:
