Barcleys refused to accept my wages?

My boss says he can't pay my wages because my bank (barcleys) refused to accept the money. Can they actually do that?
How would I be able to prove that they had turned down a payment? I'm really worried that my boss is trying to squirm out of paying me as I don't have contract.

I went overdrawn as a result of this ... can I reclaim the charges?
And would I have to prove it was their fault?

Thankyou for readding this and I'd really appreciate any help. :o

Obvious first step - speak to the bank. Ask them if they refused to accept payment. If yes, get reasons why and point out that the fees are unfair. Then tell your boss you will accept a cheque or provide him with alternate account details. If no then ask them to write to you stating that and that if you had received money then there would have been no overdraft fees. Then take the letter to your boss and tell him he's lying and needs to not only pay you but to pay your overdraft fees.
