Anyone else been to a Customer compliance interview?

Hello

I've received a letter of notification for me to attend the JCP to see a Customer Compliance Officer to "Review my claim to benefit" and at the bottom, proof of ID like; passport drivers license, utility bills, bank statements.

Has anyone else had one of these interviews at the office or know what they want?

I spoke the lady at the Customer Compliance team as I had to rearrange the visits as my daughter was unwell. The lady was very nice (I guess she would be nice on the phone, lol) she said it’s just to review your claim and there is nothing to worry about, but I am!

I’m a single parent on Income Support, I study A Levels part time 3hrs a week but I'm sure I told the jobcentre this when I started a year ago or so.

I also allow my mother to enjoy a little online bingo here and there, as well as lending her some of my HB rent payments, that she always pays back in time for me to pay my landlord, it okay with me.

I don't know... anyone have any experiences or any info regarding these types of review interviews.

Thanks all:beer:

  • This could be 2 things:

1: General review of your entitlement to the benefit/s and to check if there has been any change of circumstance/s. Please bring all the documentation requested. This can result in you being entitled to more / less benefit depending on your personal circumstance.

2: DWP has received information about you which you have failed to notify them of and which my affect your entitlement to the benefit/s. Commonly known as fraud.

If all is as you say then you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Be sure to tell them everything and answer all questions honestly.

  • Hi

I had one of these last year and was worried sick about it even though I was doing nothing wrong. I think it was just from the wording on the letter I received, which is a standard letter that is sent out to everyone. Basically it's just to check that you are who you say you are and that your circumstances haven't changed since you filled out your claim form.

I had to show proof of id and i had to fill out another claim form and then sign a statement saying that all the information that I have given them is true. The person I saw was really nice and I think the whole thing only took about 15 minutes. I was told that people are chosen to attend these interviews at random by computer so I'm sure you have nothing to worry about..

My son had one of these recently and it turns out some very kind person had phoned the benefit agency and told them he was claiming falsely. They did show him the print out of the call but, would not tell him who it was. He was ok as he could prove what they had said was lies. Good luck.

I also had a compliance home visit for council tax benefit last week-must be the season! The lady visiting me was quite stand-offish and made me feel guilty even though I haven't done anything wrong-I asked her if she needed to see all the rooms and she snorted and said 'it's not THAT kind of check!' She checked my bank statement very carefully and asked about a refund I had recieved from a debt I paid off (had forgotten to cancel the DD) I had to go through all my paperwork to find the letter saying what it was.She was also sharp about the fact I couldn't produce the latest child benefit notice even though I told her I hadn't recieved it-in fact it arrived the next morning. I suppose they have to check but it does make you feel uncomfortable.Just try to ensure you have all the info they need and if there is anything unexplained on your bank statement ie income be sure to know what it is and have some proof if you can.
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

    Hi
Yes I recently had a compliance interview, It is to check that your circumstances have not changed. In my case they had received a phone call to say that my boyfriend had moved in with me, I was asked lots of personal questions about my relationship and my sons relationship with my boyfriend. She kept saying things like .. "ask him when he gets home tonight" I did feel like she was trying to trip me up, however she was quite honest and said that if fraud started an investigation they would stop my benefit immediately and that they would find a problem as there are no rules/guidelines to adhere to as a claimant, it was a very unpleasant experience and the upshot was move him in or end it or you will be in trouble!
    Good Luck
