Best gadgets/equipment tips for holidays?

What do you think the best gadgets and equipment for taking on holiday are? Any top tips?

My tip is take a big fluffy pair of socks onto the plane so I can take off my shoes and not have my feet freeze due to the air con.

    Baby wipes and eye gel.
I've even asked the cabin crew on long haul flights to put the baby wipes in the fridge for 15mins before I use them to freshen up and they have always obliged. They really make the difference for me, but as with most things, this is a personal preference.

One of those little one-cup immersion heaters. Many hotel rooms abroad don't always have a kettle - also handy in cabins on ferries.

Digital suitcase weigher, nothing worse than paying for being overweight when you could have put it in your hand luggage if you'd realised and the mossie plug.

netbook for watching films on the plane
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
  • As an ex "worlds favorite" long haul dolly - Socks are fine while your seated....but please people put your shoes on for the visits to the bathroom as the floor is often a wash with the yellow stuff which soaks nicely into fluffy socks  . You wouldn't stand in a public toilet in just your socks! eeewwwwwggh.
  • Mine would have to be a travel pillow. Not those squeaky blow up ones, a polyester fibre one that you can fold and squash to make yourself comfortable on the plane. Beats the free ones that you get when you fly long-haul. Only cost about a fiver in Tiso.

A digital camera goes without saying. Don't forget the spare batteries and memory cards and, if you have access to a computer, the cable to connect the camera to the computer to back up your photos.

If going long haul and if you are worried/concerned about DVT then get the socks. I pack my slippers as well. Got some strange looks but I was comfy. Also an mp3 player as the inhouse screen etc really sucks!
