Depends really what it's being used for an where it's being used. EG, a small image being used to illustrate an article in an educational magazine would be paid less than a covershot for a large magazine.

You can get a book from decent bookshops which lists all the current magazines in business, their requirements and what they pay. Take a look in the photography section. Editors want to deal with people with good lists of images though. I didn't bother sending letters and emails to editors until I had well over a thousand, good, relevant, fully edited and retouched images.
