Big Scare at Allofmp3.com

After hearing good reviews about the above Web Site and ultra cheap downloads I registered and proceeded to pre-top up my account with $10usd to buy an album. After putting the card details in something that hasn't happened before was a box to the effect of my Sainsburys card would be protected for internet purchases if I wanted, just had to add a couple of extra details such as date of birth, which I did. Just before the final "click" I checked everything as I always do, and nearly fell on the floor with shock. Where it said the merchant details and the payment, it wasn't $10 like I had previously clicked, but 279. Not sure if it was dollars or pounds. Needless to say with the shock I didn't continue, and thankfully had that confirmed that it hadn't gone ahead. Can anyone shed any light on how this happened? I can only think that it is something to do with maybe Allofmp3 get big commission if they "sign" people up for extra protection, and hope that nobody notices the vast change in amount to be deducted. Unless you can think of any other reason.
Still recovering from my very near miss and just thankfull I always am so particular at checking things. Haven't seen anything bad about the site so am very puzzled.

I've never seen it but I haven't put any money into it for a while. I think my balance is basically zero, so I might try a bit later on to see if it appears.

Don't worry that was the price in russian rubles which is where the site is based!

    10.00 USD 280.000 RUB
United States Dollars = Russia Rubles

You would only have been charged the $10 then converted to £6-7

Thanks very much Jason for that info. I was in that much shock I don't recall whether or not it actually said roubles, just seem to recall the three figures, although I was in shock and may have missed it:-)

I topped up again yesterday for this site (money lasts for ages there). I always use the XRost voucher option. This lets me pay with my Paypal account, and most times there is a bonus in your mp3 account if you use this payment method.

Thanks Rex. I have tried the XRost option and it went without a hitch. Thanks all for the feedback and putting my mind at rest. Now I can get some music and enjoy.

Yep - my top-up of choice too. Seems to put £11 in your account also!

You might want to try wwww.mp3search.ru....

I have found the same CD at 80c cheaper on this site than on allofmp3 AND it was a higher bitrate.

I pay by phone using the Daopay number, quick, instant, anonymous and safe ;)

The popup is triggered externally, by the card processor. The processor, incidentally, is a Dutch company, and is the same one used by the UK government. AllOfMP3 don't see your card details as far as I know, they just get a "callback" to confirm the transaction was successful.
    Thanks in advance,
