sales and other calls ! Help

Hi

Since moving over to Primus, I have had numerous calls from various companies canvassing, some recorded messages.

When the phone rings and I answer it, does it cost me listening to such recorded messages. Is this a scam where I get charged premium rates.

Also, should I ditch the primus service as I had never had any such calls when I was a BT customer.

Any help and advice appreciated.

It could be just a coincidental.

Have you registered for BT Privacy see : http://shop.bt.com/page/btprivacyfaq. If not this may help.

You dont pay for incoming calls. The only way you can be charged is if you ring them back.

  • As you are CPS'd with Primus you are probably better registering with the TPS directly at http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/.

BT Privacy is only free if you make at least one chargeable call over the BT network a month, otherwise you will be charged £1.50pm for the service.

If you still have problems after registering with TPS then you can make a complaint to Ofcom via http://www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/landline/nuisance/sales/.

Best way to cover this is to use the BT overidde facility 1280 and put any E&W calls to 0845/0870 through BT as they are cheapest provider.

Thank you pricefighter and phoneman for your kind advice. I will look into both your suggestions. At least I have something to go on now.

    Once again many thanks.

I have now registered with the TPS service. I am sure this will help. I wasn't aware of this service.

    Cheers !!
