Hi
I am new to this forum, so a belated Happy New Year to all. Hopefully 2009 is going to be a far better year than 2008. This can be achieved if we all move as one and not lock up all the cash. Yes be frugal but the economy needs spending to operate correctly. Anyway, that's enough preaching. However my partner has received a letter from Capital One regarding interest rates. Apparently they are INCREASING THEIR INTEREST RATE TO 22.88% FOR PURCHASES/OUTSTANDING BALANCES AND 28.8% FOR CASH  . The rates are applied from the March statement, so watch out. Can they really do this when all about are dropping their rates?

Yes they can. Credit card rates bear no relation to the Bank of England interest rate. You signed up to a variable rate agreement and as such your rate has varied. Sorry.0
