All of a sudden, I have got a really sore throat.
It's really painful to swallow and I can hardly speak.
I have just made a hot blackcurrant tea with honey in.
What do you use to soothe a poorly throat?
Thanks

i gargle with either salty water - boil kettle put about 2 teaspoons of salt in a cup - half fill with boiling water - allow to cool a little then gargle until all gone or try tcp and boiling water - read instructions on tcp bottle for water/tcp ratio - and allow boiling water to cool a little before gargling - phone nhs 24 if you are worried thoughThe mind is like a parachute. Hot honey and lemon as often as possible. A small dose of brandy is also recommended!0

I have been drinking hot lemon with some rosehip syrup in that I got from Lakeland plastics.
I am on my last one now and have put a bit of whisky in it.
Doesn't feel as raw as it did earlier so I am off to bed now.

MEDICAL ADVICE
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this: Sorry, giving or asking for medical advice is not permitted on this forum as it’s not what this site is about. While discussing medical insurance policies, cheaper ways to see consultants, cashback for alternative health treatments and how to get specific medication cheaper (legally) are all perfectly acceptable we ask you specifically not to discuss what to do in the event of certain medical problems (please see this rule on the Health Board). If you have any questions about this policy please email .
For advice over the weekend there's NHS direct, your GP's out of hours number, or your local pharmacy. Any of them will check whether you are taking other medication or have conditions which might contra-indicate or interact with thepainkillers in the posts I've deleted.Signature removed for peace of mind0
