problems downloading

hi, even if i try and download a small programme it won't download..it's starts slowly as if it is going to do it and then suddenly zips along and doesn't download..what can be wrong. we have tried everything but not getting anywhere ??? !!!! any help appreciated, Thanks

Do you have more than one computer? If so is it the same on both? Try booting in safe mode with networking by taping F8 repeatedly as soon as you turn the computer on then try downloading.

Never download an unknown program in safe mode! Not very good advice!

It could just be their server playing up? Try downloading it in a different browser.

You don't know what the OP is trying to download? If it's malwarebytes, then fine, but to just offer safe mode as a solution when you don't know, is simply irresponsible. Safe mode is there for a reason, not to bypass the security in windows.

Provide the download link and what are you trying to download?

Hi . it won't let me download malware in IE or firefox..something about corrupt?? aarrghh.
Shall i just go back to factory settings? we have another laptop in the house and it;s fine so not ISP or wifi problem. I have a feeling my IE is corrupted but have checked everything.........
