I want buy a piece of furniture from eBay but I live in south Oxfordshire and the seller lives in Bridgend! Are there any cheap couriers you can recommend, and does anyone have any idea what it might cost?
I'm not sure how couriers charge when they are collecting something for you.

Do a search for 'courier' in ebay. There are stacks of them. Put your favoured ones up against each other for price.skintchick wrote: »I want buy a piece of furniture from eBay but I live in south Oxfordshire and the seller lives in Bridgend! Have you asked the seller about this? It's his/her job to do the foot work when it comes to delivery charges.
However, if you really want to do it yourself, take a look at this thread:

Seller says pickup only which is why I'm looking into it myself as it's a bargain.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

It depends on the size of furniture, if its something that will fit in a box, then most couriers will have a decent rate. If you need a van and driver you may be best checking local to yourself and local to the item for any small companies who would do it..0

Yeah, van or hatchback required, it's a kind of TV bench/sideboard. There aren;t any local. The only other one is also miles away and at a start price of £50. This one has a start of 99p so could be a real bargain depending on courier costs.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Pickup only doesn't mean they will accept a courier though so please get express permission from your seller before.
Someone collecting in person can be given a time ie you must collect at between 6-7 pm on Wednesday, a courier will probablyl expect them to be in all day. Also a collection in person means the buyer wraps and packs the item sufficiently safely to get the item home in one piece, a courier will expect it wrapped for them.
AS a seller I would definitely not allow a courier to collect a collection only item.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Although it does have the benefit of proof of postage via trackable method, something which can help prevent a lot of headaches later on.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -

As long as the buyer uses an approved method from paypals not exhsuative list of approved carrier and supplies seller with all the necessary documentation.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I've asked the question and am waiting for a response. If they won;t accept it then I won;t buy it and they have no other bids.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Consider hiring a van and collecting it yourself, it could be the cheapest option."Love you Dave Brooker! x"
