ps3 leads incompatable for HD and sound

i've got a 3 year old phillips HD TV and am trying to connect it to my new PS3.
However the TV has no HDMI input. Instead it has a DVI socket and a DVI audio in socket (looks like a 3.5mm jack).

i found HDMI to DVI leads easily, but this apparently won't carry the audio.
Anyone know how to connect up my tv and PS3 for HD with sound please?

I doubt you can. It WILL have 'audio in' sockets. But these are generally for video or svideo use. I doubt youll get them to work for DVI.
And it wont be in HD quality anyways (You can ONLY get HD sound down a HDMI)

  • I'm not worried about the quality of sound as long as i can get some sound with a 1080 HD picture
  • HD signals can be carried down component inputs. If your tv has these then youu can get a cable relatively cheaply (mine was a tenner). The seperate audio connections will be included on the cable.
  • you mean a hdmi lead one end, and a dvi plug with two phono plugs at the other?

any idea who sells em, thanks

i would be very surprised if a hd ready tv that does not even have a hdmi slot will be full 1080 hd anyway.
