In Vista, when you run a program, it seems to insist on asking permission (along the lines of if you trust this program, clcik continue). Is there any way of turning this feature off?!?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Total pain isn't it0

What are you running that requires that each time?0

You can download and use this little tool to take control of UAC

it can be a pain...but if you need to ask here how to remove the UAC prompt...you really, really need to keep it!

As someone who (a) uses Ubuntu a lot and (b) has hardly every used Vista, I really don't see what the problem is with UAC. In Ubuntu everything is run as a normal user. If you need to run something with root privileges (e.g. installing or updating an application) you get a dialogue which pops up and you have to enter your password. This seems perfectly normal and sensible to me.
Is the UAC in Vista particulary onerous or troublesome? Because to my untutored eyes it seems like a damn good idea.0 -

When you first get Vista it can be a pain as it pops up a lto when you're installing software. Once your apps are installed and your'e using it day to day it pops up ocassionally but it's not especially annoying.
I get far more alerts from runnign a firewall than I do from UAC.
It is perfetly normal and sensible to anyone who's ever used another operating system but for most Windows users who've always had an account with full admin rights it takes a little getting used toIt's my problem, it's my problem

The most intense period of UAC prompts is when you first assemble a computer and are installing your device drivers, as obviously the installers make systemwide changes, apart from that I get by with perhaps one or two prompts a day and they're usually only triggered by programs that I use to monitor the temperature of my CPU (which I still think is poor design as other programs don't require elevation..)0 -
Thanks for comments - I think I'll leave it as it is then!0
