Can I just say that I am old enough to have a bus pass, was born in the country and worked all my life in the country and readily admit that all this modern technology left me behind some time ago so I hope someone can understand what I am on about below.
About five years ago BT put a phone line into my newly built bungalow, I stayed with BT for two and a half years and then moved to TalkTalk, I now want to change from plusnet broadband to o2 broadband, to do this I have been told I must return to BT, problem is after two days trying to find my line the only thing BT can suggest is that TalkTalk must have taken over my line so I will need a new line and a new phone number at a cost of aprox £120.
TalkTalk have been pretty good about me leaving them and this morning sent an email about my final bill, in it they said I might get a final bill sometime after the change over as they don’t own any phone lines they rely on carriers and it depends how long it takes the carrier to send any last minute details to them.
I am assuming that a carrier is a body that TalkTalk purchase phone time from in bulk to supply their own service. If I am correct, TalkTalk say they don’t own any lines, BT say they have no record of a line at my address, how do I find out who dose own my line.
It’s not so much the cost that’s bugging me it’s the inconvenience of a new phone number.

sounds like you have a fully unbundled (LLU) line with talk talk.
as far as im aware only BT Retail do a return to donor so to use another isp for broadband then your line has to go back to BT Retail.you will lose internet on the transfer day and have to order broadband from scratch once line is back with BT.0 -
If you get Plusnet broadband just now then you aren't on Talktalk LLU.
What does the O2 checker say for your number? https://www.o2broadband.o2.co.uk/getBroadband.do
Should be a case of getting a MAC from Plusnet and giving it to O2.“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0
