I stocked up on dishwasher tablets and have 2 large boxes. Now my dishwasher doesn't work and we have decided not to replace it.
Any idea what I can do with dishwasher tablets without a dishwasher?

My Mum mixes them with bleach to soak the cream sink & dishcloths. It's an amazingly strong mixture though so wear gloves
Her sink & cloths are always gleaming though! I use them to soak off white cotton clothes, towels, tea towels etc in with washing powder, which also works brilliantly but again gloves are required! They can also be left in a burnt pan, dish etc with hot water to soak off all the gunk removing the need for scrubbing. Ooh & I saw once, on How Clean is your House, that they were lobbed in a dirty bath to soak the rim line off. It was digusting though so probably needed the extra power. Apart from that I don't know. Have any friends got dishwashers that would like them? Or Freecycle them? HTH

I was searching for something else when I came across this thread.
Please, please, please do not EVER mix bleach with anything other than plain water. It reacts readily with a number of common household substances (amongst other things) to evolve chlorine gas. That's what was used in the trenches...

My chemistry teacher told me that a cistern full of vinegar and a heavily bleached toilet could be fatal if you were trapped in the loo...0

it is harpic that is regularly mixed with bleach to do people injury.. there are hundreds of women rushed to hospital every year because of this.
I am not advocating it but bleach is fine with stardrops and disinfectant and washing up liquid.. in case someone does it by accident!.. that is the contents of my mothers mop bucket!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Not sure about dishwasher tablets, but a Daz tablet certainly makes my cooker's hob parts gleam when I steep them in a sink of water boiled from the kettle.Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0

Hi pinkhayley,
There's an earlier thread with some ideas for using them that should help so I've added your thread to it to keep the replies together.
