40gbp gas safety certificate. Too good to be true?

Hi there,

I normally pay about 75gbp for a gas safety certificate. This company offers to carry one out for 40gbp. Has anyone ever used them? Are they ok? https://www.gasafe.cabanova.com

    Shop around.

They are available from about £25 upwards (unless you live in London where they will probably be more)

It's the easiest £25+ a gas engineer can earn, and probably takes less than 1 hour. (based on CH boiler, gas hob and a gas fire)

    £40 - £50 is about average.

BG will probably charge £200+

Just wanted to update the thread to state I decided to try the 40 gbp for the gas safe certificate for my property in East London and he was really good. There was apparantly a gas leak so he didn't take payment, as he only charges for a 'pass' certificate. Once I got the leak sorted out he came back on another day and gave me a pass certificate.

I normally pay 75 gbp for a certificate so I thought this was a good deal.

Edit to add: the link on my first post, to the company I was going to use was not the one I went with in the end, as they could not come out on the day I required. I was able to find another engineer for 40 gbp.

Recently paid that here for a Corgi registered heating engineer. £48 odd with a certificate or £40 for cash, no receipt. He said he wasn't bothered with a certificate if I wasn't. Realise now that house insurance probably at risk without proof of having it done.

That sounds dodgy. He should have given you a certificate, left one copy with the tenants and one copy for himself. The certificate has to be kept on display at the property apparantly.

Good afternoon: Advice and information on Gas Safety certificates is available from Gas Safe Register ...CORGI's remit for gas ended on 1 April 2009 so who ever you get always ask to see a Gas Safe Register photo ID and check qualifications online.

Well I would not get an engineer who only charged £30 for a service with CP12. I suppose you really get what you pay for
