What DVD-R do people commonly use?
Ive used the Bulkpaq orange ones recently. Are they any good?
Also, I'm thinking of buying a DVD burner for my pc.... Ive read the reviews on the NEC 3500 and the Samsung TS-H552B.
Are they currently 'the' top of the range? and what are people's experiences with them?
Cheers,
Nick.

I've been using datawrite yellows from SVP on my Panasonic, no coasters so far0

I use Ritek G04 as they are regarded as one of the best dyes out there. I have used them for 2 1/2 years with no problems I woudnt touch anything else especially Bulkpaq which are regarded by many, as cheap and nasty.
No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you0 -
I use datawrite greys, not that I understand them very well but they have been good so far

I'm still learning too.

A lot of people over at https://www.cdfreaks.com have found the Ritek G04 dye to be very variable. Never used them myself, although I found Ritek R03 (8X+R apparently) to be quite poor, which moderate to high error levels. However, I find that Bulkpaq 8X+R (Prodisc SO3 dye) work very nicely in my NEC2500A with low PI/PO errors.
I still prefer Verbatim Datalife Plus, so I'm using their 4x -R at the moment which burn nicely at 8x (£5 per 10 from the computer shop).
The best is acknowledged to be Taiyo Yuden, but real ones aren't cheap (I know SVP sell them), and there are a lot of fakes around at the moment.
I suggest you look through the forums at cdfreaks before buying your writer. I know there is a big NEC community there.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

Thanks for the replies!
I'll research a bit more and will probably buy at the end of the week.
