Z Bed?

Is it safe to put a toddler (aged 2) in a Z bed?

When he stays with me I bring his cot into our room but truth is hes getting too big for it. I think the spare room which has single beds in is too far away from us to put him in on his own atm so was thinking a small z bed would fill the gap.

Is this feasable or anyone have any other suggestions? I dont have the room to fit in a permant bed

Could you put the mattress from the Z bed on the floor and then at least he's not able to fall out

I think a zbed would be too dangerous for a 2yr old, they are easily tipped up and could fold on his fingers or worse..... far better to put the matress on the floor and the child is safe...

    my children have these

You have to pump them up to use them and then they fold up into a bag when not in use.

These sort of things are quite goot for kids too, once they are unfolded they lie flat on the floor, so they can't be tipped or trap fingers.

You can get them cheaper than that though!

He's 2, that's old enough to be in his own room, imho, unless of course he hardly stays with you.

  • would it be easier to put him in the spare room in a proper bed and just get a monitor so you can hear him from your room?

I agree he would be fine in his own room in a proper single bed.
However, from your post am i right in thinking he doesn't live with you full time?
If this is the case then you need to do what he normally does at home, you don't want to put him in your room if he is expected to be in his own room normally, it would just cause problems.

It depends on the layout of your house, our spare room is up in the attic with steep stairs. I would never let a toddler sleep up there alone in case they tried to come down on their own. Kids often wake and wander when they sleep away from home.

The OP obviously has her reasons for not wanting to put him in the spare room.

  • it may be a cushiony z bed only made from foam? Id say that's ok, but if it has the ability to flip up and pinch then I would advise the roll out one that you can bag up - they had them on sale for £15 in a shop in town here (forget which sorry) so worth a look about for a good deal :)

Argos have foam chair beds which flip out to make a bed, flat to the floor, and flip back to make a chair.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
