  • If the person that is going to be applying for the position cannot even make the effort to request an application form in person, it doesn't exactly show them to be particularly motivated.

Tell me about it!! I had to make up a jingle in mine. One of the group decided it would be a good idea to sing it to everyone...:rotfl:
I don't know if it showed I was qualified for the job - it certainly showed I was poor and desperately needed an income!

I am with ASDA on this one, if people really wanted a job they would apply in person. Also I think it is good for the store to get a look at someone when they are not trying to impress at an interview.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
  • It could also be argued that a person who asks another person to get an application form for them (perhaps because that person will be in the area) is demonstrating good time & resource management skills!

I cannot see how an organisation can logically draw the conclusion that an applicant can't be bothered, or is a potential skiver, just because another person picks up a piece of paper for them...other than they are taking themselves far too seriously for an employer of the £5-6/hr category!

I work for ASDA and we genuinely just don't need the staff just now at our store, the Christmas temps were recruited ages in advance and ready to start in December. From what I gather a lot of the temps do Christmas every year as a second job and ASDA have every right to choose experienced people if they can get them.

Also quite often we just plain run out of applications as loads of people ask to get them then never bother to return them.
  • Keep complaining!

Well atleast the OP got a date. I asked (on the phone) 3 Asda stores if they were recruiting soon and none of them could tell me when they will be. It's annoying as well, as I worked at Asda last year and wanted it as a fall back! lol.
