I have always preferred using dishwasher powder rather than tablets but Lidl have stopped doing their own brand of powder. We have an Aldi about 5 miles away so I would be able to make a special trip there but I wouldn't normally go - does anyone know if they do dishwasher powder?
If I have to start using tablets, I know a lot of people recommend breaking them in half. Do you find you have to be more careful about rinsing off starchy plates if you are only using half a tablet?
Thanks for any help you can give

It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Not sure if they do the powder - I tend to stick to tablets now as it is smaller to store and saves me getting powder every where . I tend to buy the cheapest ones and have no problems with them - using Asda basic ones at the moment - I do live in a very soft water area so not sure of that would make a difference. No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:

My local Aldi don't sell powder. I have always preferred using the diswasher powder as you can regulate how much you use depending on how dirty the plates are. Last few times I have bought Sainsbury's own which works very well and lasts a while.0

I've started breaking my tablets in half as suggested on here and haven't had any problems with cleaning yet. I do use finish tablets but that's only because i buy them when there on special offer! I can't say i specially rinse of my plates etc and if im on honest sometimes ive been really naughty and the food residues have dried on.2013 Free Money - £363.44 Topcashback

I prefer using powder (more cost effective even if it is a big bulky size to store) but Mr T haven't had any for a while in the 3kg size when I do an internet delivery. I got Aldi dishwash tablets for £2.99 in December and I have to say they have been ok. Home Bargains also sell dishwash tablets and you can sometimes get Finish in there reasonably priced. I've been using the full tablet and I always rinse off plates when we've had the starchy stuff. HTHI got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.0

I am in a very hard water area and use the Fairy Active Bursts. I got 12 packs when one of the supermarkets had them at half price and I like them. However my MIL who lives in Cornwall (very soft water) was told by the Miele engineer to use powder and not to bother spending too much on it. I think the Finish Quantum tablets are over 25p each which is far too much and I hate upwrapping the other ones so its the Fairy Active Bursts for me if they are half price or the powder if I cannot find any offers.
Btw - we use our dishwasher a lot hence the 12 packs of Fairy in one go!0 -
We live in a hard water area. I find cheap tablets pretty useless and my glasses go cloudy. I hate the price of the better tablets so I buy whatever is currently good value. Which last week in Asda was the packs of 52 Finish powerball ones at 13p each and I cut them in half which gives great value and there is no difference with the cleanliness of the dishes.:T £2.00 coin saver number 059

i have always prefered the dishwasher powder to the tablets , if you have a morrisons near they still do the finish one although it's £3 a kilo i find it does last loads longer than the tablets .
the last time i was in markro i had an amazing bargain i had a huge 10kg box of finish powder for £9 i have worked this out to last me the next 2 years lol
so i guess i'm sticking with powder0 -

The best post on this thread. I've always thought that powder dissolves faster than tabs (particularly relevant on quickwash programme) and gets to work faster doing the washing. I stick to the cheapest powder (Lidl or Aldi) and use salt plus rinse aid.0 -
I saw some dishwasher liquid the other day. Has anyone used this??0
