Itunes trf my songs from PC to laptop - how?

Hi
I have been trying to trf my songs from my PC to laptop.
I copied them all to my portable harddrive and copied them to itunes on the laptop (or so I thought). However, when I disconnect the harddrive it can't find the songs but has them in the list on the laptop as songs available.
What have I done wrong pls?

I think you need to import them via itunes.
In itunes, select file/add to library and select song location. Itunes should do the rest.0 -
One thing I did wrong when I transferred my music, was that I just placed them in 'my music', not inside the itunes folder in my music, which is where they need to be.0
