Registration emails / Password reminder emails not being sent?

A friend finally decided to register and use the forums.
However they have had trouble registering.
I'm told they went through the registration and were told the registration email would be sent, follow the link to complete registration etc. Several hours later the email has not turned up.
They then tried using the password reminder option thinking that might work but this also said an email would be sent instantly to the email address. This email hasn't turned up either.
All spam filtering is turned off for this email address.
Is MSE not sending out / long delay on sending emails at the moment?
User can now login ok but can't post/search etc as registration not completed.
What options exist to complete the registration now?

If they have checked (and double checked) they have the rigth e-mail address entered, and they definately have no spam filters or anything in their junk mail folder they could try contacting [EMAIL="webmaster@moneysavingexpert.com"]webmaster@moneysavingexpert.com[/EMAIL] as suggested by MSE Andrea here:

Some of my emails (not MSE) go into the spam folder of the webmail. I need to go in there and retrieve them from time to time.My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0
