New phone line need to be installed BT or Post office

I want to get a phone line installed into my flat so I can get sky and broadband. I've seen that BT or Post Office are probably the easiest to go through to get a line installed plus the line rental as it seems whoever install the line tie you in to line rental as well.

My landlady has said she will pay for the installation but obviously I guess I will need to pay out of the first direct debit and she will have to reimburse me. But who's best and easiest to go with?

How long is the post office contract?

SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)
  • Thanks, I'll get on to them Monday morning, I was prefering them to BT. The international calls is a big plus for the missus as she has a few friends in Australia. And the no contract thing is ideal.

You can get Free Connection and 3 Months Free Line Rental direct from SKY see: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=17771937#post17771937

The PO will want about £110 to connect a new line.

Add the SKY Unlimited call bundle for £5 and get inclusive 24/7 UK Geographical 01/02/03 Calls plus 24/7 calls to OZ and 19 other Intl destinations.

The PO deal requires you to pay for your peak 01/02/03 calls.

Sky have no connection fee, as long as you do not miss your first connection date. Otherwise it will be £105. If you can not make the connection date, than if you call them up they can change the date and no charge.

Does anyone know if the line connection is open to existing SKY customers who are new to the telephone side of it?

I rang them before Xmas and they said it was for new customers only so we had to go to BT (even said no to the post office!!)

I'm looking to get a home phone line, and trying to decide whether to go for the PO, BT or Sky as they seem to be the only options. Where is the cashback from PO? I can only find a reference to £27 being available.

I would have gone to BT, but I disconnected my line 4 years ago with them, and was surprised to find they want £122 to reconnect it.

    Are Sky good?

    Thanks for any advice
