Which Firefox extensions do you recommend?

Hi, I've finally taken the plunge and changed to Firefox from IE.
I've been to the extensions part but there's that many I found it a bit overwhelming and came straight back out!

Which extensions do you consider necessary and which are handy? Are there any I should avoid?

Many thanks in advance :D

Finc.

All depends what you want them to do really!

As a web developer, I find the web developer toolbar invaluable. I also use DownThemAll when downloading a large amount of images from one page - no more right click > save as... ;)

I use my PC mainly for the internet and editing pictures. Also sell on ebay (who doesn't?). I wasn't sure if any of the security type ones were worth using but already have Spybot, Adaware and Microsoft antispyware so that may be enough.

    Thanks for your response though.

    I like

    FasterFox, optimise your connection speed
Colorful Tabs - Note the US spelling, function speaks for itself
Tab Mix Plus - tab functions lots of them!
    Image Zoom - V useful
    ForcastFox - Weather extension

Currently on my pendrive version at work I have
    • Tab Mix Plus - Improve the functionality of the Tab System
    • Image Zoom - Allows you to zoom pictures by right-click and scroll the mouse wheel (plus other image functions)
    • All-In-One-Sidebar - Puts a toolbar on the left to access all sidebar content easily
    • Googlebar - Google search, but I like it for the easy 'on-page' keyword search facility.
    • CuteMenus - Crystal SVG - Adds icons to the menus

    And at home I also have;
    • AdBlock - Allows selective blocking of ads
    • Web Developer - Essential for Web App development
    • Javascript Debugger - Essential for Javascript development
    • Flashget - Download enhancement tools
    • Text Resize Buttons - Provides toolbar buttons to resize page text

Also, I use in preference, FreeDownloadManager, to handle my downloads.

  • Adblock Plus
FilterSet G Updater (updates rules for Adblock and keeps 99.9% of ads at bay with no messing)
    Fasterfox
    IE View
    GMail Notifier

On my other machine (used for downloads) I have Flashgot in addition and also used FreeDownloadManager

Thanks, I've been looking at all your suggestions and deciding which I'll need.

Many thanks for at least narrowing down the choice, there seem to be that many that are similar it's hard to know which ones to opt for. You've all been really helpful. :T

I've had problems with both AdBlock and AdBlock plus when I'm using yahoo mail. Firefox started getting so many error messages and closing the program that I had to take it off.

    Have you tried IE Tab?

It's similar but launches IE inside Firefox. Keeps everything within the one app, very handy.
