Confused about Balance transfers. Which companies OWN which????

Hi,

We have a CC with MBNA which we would like to close and transfer the balance. I have heard that there are certain companies you cannot transfer to as they fall under the same 'umberella'. Is this true?

We have seen a good deal with bank of Scotland (not Royal Bank of Scotland). Are they anything to do with MBNA?

As far as I know Halifax are joined to Bank of Scotland but no-one else?

Please help, totally confused!

You can transfer any debt whatsoever to an MBNA card. This is because they offer SBT (Super Balance Transfer) capability which means that you can request they simply move the funds to your Bank Account by way of a "Money Transfer". Once the funds are received in your account you can then pay off anyone you want from a loan shark to another MBNA card.
