Well like it or not, the smoking ban is in part responsible for the lack of trade in the pub world. Wouldn`t it been nice if the government, like the Spanish, gave the option to ban smoking to the landlord. So thems that don`t want to smoke can go to a smoking bar and thems that want to smoke can go to a smoking one.0 -
Up until 4 years ago, we would always go out for a SE London curry on Friday Night....then in 2004 we had our own special credit crunch (just for us) and it all stopped.
So tonight, I cooked Indian from scratch, half a bottle of Lidl Cotes du Rhone, big coal fire, chit chat with OH (who's been away most of the week), celebrating a stonking big order from Internet Land......now he's sneaked off to watch a cra99y film.....and I am hanging out with Fungus (who recently left charm school and got A* in talikg to women).
Ooops, son just called in....he's down in Brighton researching something for his finals......hunting for leftovers in the kitchen right now....so off to chat to him now.
Do I detect an admirer? Hope you've got yer flame retardant undies on love, sparks are gonna fly!:D0 -

Aye aye Fungus I think you've got an admirer there:rotfl: . See you're staying in with the weirdos and you've pulled!
Have to beat them off with astick on here, that Mewbie tart's the worst, real fatal attraction stuff, scares me:eek:0 -
Brilliant. I wanted to buy a camper van to live in when I sold my house. Luckily I didn't as the weather's been utter poo for the past 18 months. I'm not really a "roughing it" kind of girl. I have too many OCD tendencies and strange little phobias and ways of insisting that certain things must be "just so".In tonight for me, early start tomorrow carrying on with my panel van to campervan conversion (UK holidays here I come)
But it still appeals... a bit.0 -
I read something (here?) in the last week that said that what killed the pub trade wasn't really the smoking ban, but the fact that the value of the land the pub sat on exceeded any income that could be made from selling Stella.Well like it or not, the smoking ban is in part responsible for the lack of trade in the pub world. i'm off the booze for january. do this every year, it usually works wonders for the bank balance, and my general health, but this year i've eaten about 1 million cakes, and i've got the OH's 30th birthday dinner tomorrow night to pay for, and then her present which is a surprise trip to berlin will hit the bottom line as well. luckily i get paid on the 21st!0
