My partner is planning to start the Nursing Diploma (a three year course) she will get a bursary (about £6k) from the NHS but is not eligible for a student loan. On top of this we have also found out today that we will not get the childcare part of WTC for our two children, neither of which is at school, as she will be classed as a student.

Basically the bursary will just about cover her transport costs and pay towards the food bills.

I can not understand how they expect someone to complete such a course that could result in her working odd hospital hours and have to pay for all the childcare ourselves. Is it not basically an apprenticeship? Which means working while you learn.

Is there anything else we can consider applying for as I am not able to cover 12-15K a year childcare costs myself?

Do you work? If so, how much do you earn?

I work yes. And it's above the £25K threshold that I've believe is a cut off.
