SSPS - Where can I get it cheap?

I am doing a Psychology degree course and my coursework keeps stating 'your statistical package will show you how to do this' so I have decided it is about time I invest in one, only problem being I am a poor student with a house and bills to pay for and a daughter to raise (yes I am a mature student! :eek: ) so I need to obtain a copy as cheaply as possible - can anyone help???

Hi,

Consult your IT Department to see if they have a license with SPSS to allow students to install SPSS free of charge or cheap. I work in a University IT Department and our license allows this (which doesn't mean your Uni's will unfortunately).

You're unlikely to get it cheaper than that anywhere.

There are a few open source statistical analysis packages but last time I did any checking there weren't many available for Windows and they either weren't very advanced or relied on the user having a lot of statistical and/or programming knowledge already.

Thanks garrydh, I have spoken with my IT dept they do "lend" the package but only for 1 week and they charge £18!!!!!
