I have been really surprised when looking at houses....

That all of the ones we've looked at where the owners have dogs, the gardens are full (& I mean full) of dog poo! This puts me off a house immediately particularly in the current climate where there are plenty of sellers who are making an effort with their homes. I might be alone in being disgusted but I do find it pretty grim.

Ewww I agree. And once when we viewed a house they had a really nervous dog who peed on the kitchen floor about three times while we there. I know you don't know what previous owners have done to a house but that put me off completely. My other one is houses that reek of cigarette smoke - blech.0

I would find this disgusting too, and I have a dog! I can understand people letting the dog 'use' the garden sometimes, but surely every decent person cleans it up as soon as possible
I'd have thought this was extra important when selling a house, a pooey garden really is repulsive! It doesn't bode well for cleanliness inside the house either:rolleyes:0 -
Yeah we've seen a few house that smell of smoke too, not nice! The people with all the dog poo just make me wonder what else they do/don't do in their house....1% at a time no. 40. £8000 (For dream family holiday) 94/100

Buyers market, poo lovers lose. I'd suggest pointing this out to the Estate Agent so the poo lovers know that one of the reasons was this.0

when we were looking at houses we saw bathrooms which hadn't been cleaned. And they wondered why their house wasn't selling.......0

Our downstairs neighbours are like that: their garden is basically a dog toilet, its not really what we want to see when we look out of our lounge window (we are the upstairs flat) and is just one of the reasons we are moving in a couple of weeks to get away from them. Luckily we rent so its pretty easy for us to move - I do feel sorry for the landlord though as he has a very nice flat here and I can see him having problems in the future - we've put up with them for the 15 months since they moved in but I can't see anyone wanting to live here long term if they continue behaving as they are. It amazes me that as owner-occupiers that people like that wouldn't want to take better care of their own property, and goodness knows what anyone would think if they tried to sell and viewers saw the state of the garden!0

I viewed a house where the INSIDE had been used as a dog toilet.
The previous occupants had 2 great Danes who were shut in the house for about 2-3 months (someone came to feed them though). The house came on as a repo. I spoke to a neighbour who told me the details about it prior to viewing. The EA didn't volunteer any info when I commented on the state of the house. It was a nearly new build (2003-04) with dirty stained walls and carpet. There were holes in the walls and a radiator was hanging of the wall. There were scratches to all the windows and doors and patio doors that fitted with the height of the dogs.
As the EA didn't want to tell me I took great pleasure in telling him what I knew. He was quite surprised I had done my research. As usual when I asked about any offers he told me they had one near asking price. I told him to rip their hand off. Funny enough the price was subsequently dropped and it still hasn't sold.0 -
God that's vile. We had a dog when I was a kid that wasn't permitted to mess in the garden. If she needed to go and it wasn't walktime she'd always show us that she wanted the gate opened and use the wasteland near the house - this was before everyone clocked that it was sensible to clean up even if it's wasteland. It's not even that hard a thing to train into them just a bit of direction and patience!0

I would worry as an owner that the veiwers would tread it into the house as my oh nearly did last week!!! All over their gorgeous cream carpets & tiles. Thankfully he missed it all in the garden!1% at a time no. 40. £8000 (For dream family holiday) 94/100

If he had put it on their carpet they'd only have themselves to blame / serves them right etc etc0
