Faulty Nintendo DS lite

My sons Nintendo DS has just stopped working when switched on the light flashes and then goes off. I have tried checking the battery by using my other sons DS battery but that is not it. I bought it Aug 2008 from Woolworths and have receipt - so I thought great it is under warranty. I went onto Nintendo UK service site and went on quick registration for faulty items, which asked for nuber off the back - well its not there because he has picked it off - so I have tried ringing them and no answer - I am left in a queue. Does anyone have experience of what will happen without this number

Same problem mine after I fished it out of the bath. One of the screens had gone faulty. It is repairable if you cant get it done under warrantee

I just went through the box for my DS to see if there is anything that may have the number on it and it doesn't so that was no help.

I guess you eventually got a response from Nintendo what did they say? The thing is that the serial number will give them a manufacturing date so they will be able to tell how old the DS is it is rare that any manufacturer needs a receipt to prove that it is warranty.
  • Found this number on say no to 0870 for the service centre 01753483700
Try giving them a ring, I did this when my son's new DS got a problem. They logged the fault their end and gave me an incident number which I had to include in a letter to them with the DS. We took it in to them as they are just down the road and they swapped it for a new one for us while we waited.
Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by

  • Thanks for all your replies, I think not having the serial number will invalidate the warranty.
  • I dont know about the serial no. but surely with the receipt which will be dated, the service centre shuld be able to help.

My daughters ds did the exact same thing on Chirstmas morning (9 mths old) suddenly no power etc etc. Took it back to Game and they changed it without investigation so sounds like known fault.

I would oursue the service centre. Fingers crossed
If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:
  • I managed to get through today and the fact that there was no serial number was not a problem so I am relieved.
