Credit report issue

Hi all,
Sorry if this is in wrong section, i have looked for suitable alternative.

In 2004 a company called Euphony telecoms basically placed a BAD payer report on my credit report, which did adversly affect my report.
They used a company to pursue the debt, however they stopped just before the report was placed.

I am now startiong to get calls from another debt recovery company to pay again.

I strongly disagree with the bill, and will not pay it. Can the company place ANOTHER Bad payer mark on me for the same bill, 5 years later ???

Any help would be appreciated

Hi, I subscribe to all 3 agencies and there is no such thing as a bad payer mark, your credit file only gives facts,

ie Missed Payments, and how many months behind, defaults / ccjs, these are all not good things.

    Hi yakface

Just a few more facts please:

    - how is the credit account entry marked on your credit file, i.e. does it say settled, normal, defaulted, delinquent?

    - In what way do you dispute the debt?

    - Have you had any contact with the company in question since 2004?

    Regards

    Hi Underground,
The debt was disputed as this company had no permission to become my new 'call providers' and i still paid for calls to bt at the same time that they claim they did (3 months)

The status says normal, i have had no contact since 2004, neither them with me until now.
    regards

So what have they been marking the account status as for the last 5 years? By this I mean the bit that has zeros, ones, twos etc to indicate the payment status month by month.

It's time you get this all down in writing and make a formal complaint, with the onus being on them to prove you had an agreement with them. If they fail to provide such proof you will be well within your rights to request that the credit file entry be removed.

If the account is still technically 'running' they can mark your credit file again, so get this sorted ASAP.

For information on putting debts into dispute, CCA requests etc you may want to take a look at the CAG forum:
