Account in name of business?

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this question so sorry in advance if it is.
I'm a sole trader but trade under a business name.
Occasionally, I get cheques made payable to my business name and not my name and I need to get the cheques rewritten to my name.
I now would like to setup a bank account which is my business but I only want to use it for the occasional cheque so I don't need all the features and costs of a business account.
Does anyone know the best place to go to get just a simple account in the name of a business and what do I need to set it up?
Cheers
Tom

Any bank worth their salt should be able to sort out an account for you in name of mynamesnotdave trading as whatever.
Then you could pay in cheques payable to yourself or your business name.
If you have an existing account (business account) then they should be able to alter the name on your existing acount.
If you are running a business through a personal account you're stuffed.0 -

Abbey is great, the only bank as far as I know, that will give free business banking.
All done by post as well, we used to bank with a high street one, but the time spent going and paying in cheques was a pain, this suits us much better.0 -

Aahh! There's always a price to pay for having the wrong type of account!
Did you know that any bank charges incurred as a result of having a business account is tax deductable?
