Critical illness cover

I haven't seen critical illness cover mentioned anywhere on the site. Have I just missed it? I'm trying to find ways to cut the cost without losing cover. My current provider is Swiss Life. Any ideas? Andy

If your existing plan is over 4 years old, you will probably find that you will lose cover regardless of whom you move to. CI conditions covered were reduced around 4 years ago. Anyone with an existing plan kept the conditions, any new plans arranged were done on the new basis.

When comparing CI cover, you need to be aware that they are not all like for like. Some will cover more than others and within the plans you have a budget version and a comprehensive version. So make sure you are comparing correctly. If it seems too cheap, then it probably is for a reason.

Swiss Life should be beaten easily enough.

  • The cover was taken out Sept 2002 so it is around 4 years and I was told that the CI conditions were quite good at the time. I'm paying 105.00 per month for 500K of cover. Obviously it depends on CI conditions but does this look over the odds and where would be a good place to hunt for a better deal with the same CI conditions? Andy
  • that sounds good to me andy_mcginn.

Its a level term policy is it?
