I recently bought my dad a new dvd recorder but he is having trouble fitting it on to the shelf with his new LCD Sony Tv.(The shelf is part of the built in fireplace) The ideal solution would be to sit the tv on top of the dvd player. Is this a good idea? There are no vents on the top of the dvd so the fan would not be obstructed. More worried about the weight of the tv on top . We have looked around for a low table/shelf that could create a stand above the dvd but cant find anything.
Any advise or shelf ideas would be great , thanks.

Not a good idea to put a heavy TV on top of a metal cased DVD recorder!
You may be able to solve the problem cheaply by using a flat sturdy piece of shelf/board/composite of some sort (wider than the DVD recorder) and supporting this either side of the DVD rc by resting/fixing onto pieces of suitable batten (slightly thicker that the DVD rcdr so the shelf is supported above it)0 -
Could you put a wall shelf on the wall behind the telly? Just above it?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.
