Has Egg Money Credit Card been scrapped?

Hello, today I tried to purchase online and when going through the Mastercard Securecode I got NOTAUTHED and was told I was not charged. Tried again, making sure I used correct code, and same thing happened. Although the store said I was not charged I got 2 order emails and both transactions show on my securecode receipt. I'll have to ring up and check.

Looking at the egg site I see the egg money card has disappeard and since my card seemed to have been declined this morning is it possible that egg have scrapped and cancelled the card? Seems a bit crazy if they have but I wouldn't put it past 'em!

Anyone else had trouble?

One possibility is:

Egg seem to have 'beefed up' their online fraud prevention, in terms of that I would expect that there is currently a block on your card and you have / will soon receive an automated call from Egg asking you to confirm the last 2/3 transactions in order to remove the block.

Has happened to me a couple of times recently, last time being when I had to reset my securecode password.

lol yep egg called home but i wasn't there to press the buttons and i can't get through to them at the moment. Seems this securecode rubbish is more trouble than it's worth? I also got a call from the company I tried to purchase from, but again couldn't answer it, so looks like something went wrong during the authorisation process for some reason. POO! Hope my card hasn't been cancelled and is just blocked.

Egg Money is not available to new customers, but is still paying 1% cashback / 4% gross positive balance interest to existing customers

I had similar problems with my Egg Money card. The automated service kept calling my home tel instead of my mobile which I have all the time. No reply at home? Decline the transaction without trying my mobile which was on the system too. I had to request that my mobile was made the 'primary contact' number and my home tel as the secondary one.

It really is a pain in the privates - I appreciate the reasons why they do it, but it just seems soooo excessive. Especially when, on the one occasion I actually NEEDED Egg to pick up fraudulent transactions (i.e. my card being used on betting sites which I had NEVER used), it failed! Wonderful!
