Oh my giddy aunt, it worked!
I have just spent the most stressful few hours of my life sorting this. I felt physically sick!
But, I have reinstalled Windows, managed to reinstall my wireless router thingamy, am back on line and now going to reinstall just the essential software that I need. I didn't lose any emails at all. All my pics and docs are safely stored on disk but best of all......
I can connect my camera, phone and other hardware devices via usb!!
